For many years the Vaaldam area, which includes towns and villages such as¬†Deneysville, Oranjeville, Vaalmarina, Villiers and Heilbron¬†were ‚Äúclassified‚ÄĚ as ‚Äúthe best kept secret‚ÄĚ.
We have no secrets here and we welcome all visitors to our shores!
Balie (the name was derived from the last hippo found in our waters and named Balie by the locals) is more than a newsletter!
We want you to experience everything we have on offer, such as many kilometers of unpolluted water, ideal for yachting and boating, a fisherman’s haven for bass, carp, yellow fish, barbel and many more!
Accommodation is no problem as there are many Guest houses, B&B, Self-catering Units, Upmarket Lifestyle Units with different options as well as ideal camping spots available.
It is also the home of the world renowned ‚ÄúRound The Island Race‚ÄĚ -¬†an annual yacht race patronised by the yachting fraternity both local and abroad.
During the year many other races and regattas complete the racing calendar.
With several yacht clubs in the area there is no reason to spend a dull weekend at home.

Crime is almost non-existent thanks to the efforts of the SAPS and the team of voluntary patrols manned by
members of the different neighbourhood watches - the most active being the DRAC (Deneysville Residents Against Crime) who also offers Emergency Assistance and Fire Fighting when needed.
The NSRI also have a manned station in Deneysville in case of distress on the water.
The Tourism and Business Forum and its members promote our town in many ways
and try to keep our town clean and attractive the entrance to our village
as well as the erection of very modern rubbish bins along the main street is evidence off this.
